10 Cloverfield Lane

Rated PG-13 / 1 hr 43 min / Drama - Mystery - SciFi

What is it about?

Michelle is having marital problems. She tried to marry a Care Bear after watching Ted 2, but found that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. The Care Bear just wasn't cool and wouldn't smoke from the bong with her. She panics and runs off. She gets hit by a truck and rolls over several times. When she wakes up Samuel L. Jackson has her chained up next to a wall next to Christina Ricci from Black Snake Moan. This time John Goodman is there wearing a stained white T-shirt a few sizes too small while putting his pinkie in his belly button. She panics and tries to escape, but there is something horrifying outside. Something that stops her in her tracks. It can only be 1 thing, Godzilla diapers.

You will like it if...

You like claustrophobic thrillers with insane characters. I absolutely love thriller movies with twisty turny plots that have you on the edge of your seat. This one starts off slow, but gives you bits and pieces as it goes to keep you on edge wondering what will be next. The tension is constant because you don't know what John Goodman's character is going to do next. Even though he takes two steps and is out of breath. John really needs to go on a diet and work out some. I worry for his health. The cast is so small that there aren't any real supporting roles. Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Goodman both give stellar performances. Cloverfield Lane ends up being a slow burn thriller that I felt was just as good as the previews made it look. If you are interested based off the preview and like slow burn thrillers this is worth going to see. If not then maybe wait for it on Redbox/Netflix/digital.

Next Week

Allegiant, Midnight Special, or whichever film you vote for. Vote early, vote often, vote in the comments or Godzilla will pick the movie! As always the movie selection is subject to change based on what is showing here in theaters.

Upcoming to DVD on March 8

  • The Big Short
  • Sisters - Tina Fey fans should like this one. Fun comedy, but not a must see.
  • Carol - I want to see this, but haven't yet!
  • Brooklyn - I want to see this, but haven't yet!
