Let's Be Cops

Rated R / 1 hr 44 min / Action - Comedy

What is it about?

Two roommates are going nowhere in their lives. They have failed thus far to make it in their respective careers. They are invited to a party and try to decide if they want to be ghosts or cops. Of course they choose cops. The party turns out to be a masquerade party rather than a costume party. When they leave the party, they notice that people are reacting to them as if they are real police. They decide to have some fun with that and escalate it to the point where they are taking calls on the police radio. They get into it with some real gangsters who are out doing evil things like gangsters like to do.

You will like it if...

You like comedies filled with mischief and police officers. The main duo certainly put themselves in some rediculous situations, but it never feels forced as most of these comedies do. The main character does a great job of projecting a desperate vibe that makes everything else seem somewhat believeable. They do give away quite a bit of the jokes in the previews, but there are plenty of big laughs that they left out to enjoy for the first time while watching. Damon Wayans Jr. as the sidekick is just as likable as his father, and I look forward to seeing him again in future comedies. Let's Be Cops is hilarious when it doesn't try to be too serious which thankfully isn't often. The action isn't too bad on it's own, but that's not what this movie is about. Go see it if the previews have you interested.
